Topics Covered (time in video in brackets):

  • I have a sensation around my kneecap and it feels like something is moving around under the surface. What could this be? (00:30)
  • I am getting DOMS more than I used to is this normal? (8:00)
  • How do I return to running after illness? (14:30)
  • Recently, after some runs my right ankle feels and sounds crunchy and clicky. If I rotate my foot, it clicks like crazy and although it doesn't hurt, it's a bit uncomfortable and slightly unnerving! The crunchiness seems to be coming from the front and I feel like massaging up my Tib Ant should help it (and indeed does help to ease the clicks), but I'm just wondering what might be causing this? (18:10)
  • Since returning from injury I have been swimming 2-3 times per week to keep my fitness up.  I’m now back running but I’ve been enjoying the swimming so much that I’m swimming in the morning and then running at lunchtime roughly 3 times per week; would you recommend both on the same day or does it depend on the type of run? I don’t want to risk overtraining! (21:10)
  • I have a dull ache in my left butt cheek where I believe the Piriformis sits - it’s so uncomfortable sitting down ( driving for instance ) for longer than ten mins. So do you have a miracle cure / stretch etc other than the normal stretches etc and massage gun prodding? I will also add that my knee hurts also following a run but I have been rehabbing this by doing leg extensions and loaded slanted squats and also some single leg step dip things. I thought I’d throw that in about the knee as this could be affecting the butt pain? (23:40)
  • I run, row, and currently also trying to improve my swimming. I'm starting to train for multi day running, so I obviously want to do a decent amount of running.  I know I also need to get strength sessions in. So as a result, I don't really do a complete rest day. I'm classing a swim and pilates day as my rest. From a physio point of view / injury prevention, is it necessary to have a day completely off? (26:50)
  • I have been experiencing some swelling, stiffness and pain in my left knee over the past 4 weeks or so which has prevented me from running. I'm not aware of any incident that started the problem, it just came on over a run or 2.  Although the swelling has mostly gone I still can't fully bend the knee and am experiencing some pain even when walking. The pain is mostly along my inner thigh, most intense just above the inner (bony) part of my actual knee. What can I do? (31:35)
