  • I did a 60k at the weekend mainly paths. I suffer what I can only think is some form of shin splints. Front of my shins hurting, after the race I had red bruising on the front of my shins and the front was swollen. What might of caused this? (00:00)

  • I quite often get knee pain when doing squats, particularly on the first one or two squats and feel the strain from squats more in knees than in my legs or glutes. What exercises should I be doing to strengthen up my knees? (21:20)
  • Flexibility as you get older, I have never been very flexible. All past attempts to improve my hamstring flexibility haven’t made any real difference and I’m not even close to being able to touch my toes – is there any point in trying to improve flexibility? (25:10)
  • Vertical ratio/vertical oscillation: I occasionally run with a chest-strap HRM, which shows that my ground contact time and cadence are fine, however on easy runs in particular my vertical ratio and vertical oscillation are pretty poor, do these vertical figures matter? (29:30)
