Topics Covered (Time of question in brackets):

  • I've been struggling with my sciatica. Can it be from my running shoes? (00:00)
  • I'm doing a 50k sky race, and there are only two aid stations. How would you manage your nutrition and hydration in the race? (5:30)
  • Does pickle juice help with cramp? (13:40)
  • I wanted to ask whether someone (specifically a woman) who is training for a sub 4 hour marathon should be fueling (during the training block specifically) the same as someone who is training for a sub 3 marathon? Like, should your carb intake increase the more "elite" you are because your training would be quite different? More weekly mileage, for example - 70km/week vs 100+km per week. I got a stress fracture last July, and I am finally back to where I was, but I have made huge changes to my daily nutrition and during my long runs. It has made a big difference to the way I feel when I run and my recovery, and I am loving it! BUT I do feel heavier, and I was wondering if it's too much now, but I don't want to compromise my performance. (18:12)
  • I need some motivation for my 5-hour run this weekend. (28:05)
  • I'm looking for advice for how to adapt running training plans while also cross-training cycling and swimming (I'm a hobby triathlete). I want to follow a running training plan as I build back running fitness from some time out. Most running training plans require a minimum of 3 runs per week but ideally I'd run twice a week plus cycle, swim, strength & yoga. Can you improve your running on 2 runs a week and if so what should these 2 runs focus on? (31:55)
  • Please explain the attraction/appeal of Western States. What makes it soooooo popular and difficult to get into? You gave a little bit of insight into it recently on one of your SCY sessions but I’m so interested to learn more about this infamous run! (35:30)
  • Mountains on stage (51:00)
